It is the final phase of issue 84. My 17th issue as editor… How time flies. Just a few years ago, I was a fetishist, but when it came to events and parties, I was absolutely inexperienced, in some areas even naïve. To learn and get to know the scene better, I threw myself headlong into it and was at every party that came my way, got to know an incredible number of interesting people and also enjoyed the tingling with each new event.

Whether German Fetish Ball, Passion, Avantgardista and whatever they are called, each event was exciting and has its very own dynamic. I noticed quite quickly that there is a hard core that you meet at several events, maybe not at all, but at some: fetishists, BDSMers, partygoers who have the opportunities professionally and financially and take advantage of them.

The question I asked myself is: With all these intersections, how big is the scene of partygoers really? How many people go to fetish/BDSM parties, to fairs of this kind? Short answer: I don’t know, maybe a few thousand, ten to twenty thousand maybe? I can’t say. The long answer: Far too few! Kink, BDSM, fetish, all of this thrives on interaction, discovery and enjoyment! Yesterday I talked to Frank from the Fetish Celebration. He had to tell me that the Fetish Celebration will not take place. This is a great pity and sad news, and it brings me to my request to you, dear reader:

Go to parties! Dare to try something new! And enjoy the tingling!

The scene is small and would actually have to grow significantly to offer enough space for exciting events, great artists and innovations for many years to come! Therefore: Help keep the scene alive! Thirty years ago, MARQUIS was a partner exchange, shop directory, idea and impulse generator all in one. In the meantime, there is the internet, many say, but there devotion and intensive preoccupation with a topic have given way to a certain arbitrariness and short-livedness. The MARQUIS has a different relevance today.

Enjoy the new edition, go to events and live it up!

Long live the sin!
